Dye Session 1 Completed Work

 









For the 2nd dye session I did the walnut and logwood. I got some really good results from the logwood but was kinda disappointed with the walnut, so I threw a test pieces of the rosa into the walnut for a quick dip. The two mixed didn't come out the best, so I tried it again with the turmeric dyed piece into the logwood and think that combo has some potential.

 My inspirations for these dyes were Skin-walker Ranch and snake skin. Skin-walker ranch was an inspiration for the colors more so then the patterns, but the patterns of the fabric were inspired from snake skin patterns. I also wanted to have un-dyed pieces of the fabrics, so the white helps the other colors pop more and help add depth. Rolled up the fabric, starting with a corner and then folded it upon itself. Laid one side in logwood for 1hr on a low simmer. Personal Project Completed Work

  It was really important that the pockets were actual pockets, and I also hand washed each garment so they are ready to wear.  This was a solid dye with logwood and the pocket was a shabori pattern with logwood. This was a triangle style logwood dye. I let it simmer on low heat in the dye bath for 2 hours, really happy with how this one came out.  This was a solid madder dye with a rojo splatter pocket. This was a rojo ice dye, I like how it came out but think I needed to use a lot more ice. The dye was still very concentrated at the top after 3 layers of ice had melted over it.
